In Assembly District 35, voters have an easy (but important!) choice between Republican Brent Jones and Democrat Justin Watkins.
Public Lands
Justin Watkins was born in Las Vegas and raised near Floyd Lamb State Park, so he was raised to love the outdoors. Now he’s passing that outdoor way of life to his daughters.
In the Assembly, Justin will fight to protect access to public lands for today’s hikers, anglers and hunters and future generations.
But last year, Brent Jones was one of only eight members of the Assembly to support the “Cliven Bundy Bill,” which would have limited Nevadans’ access to public lands for hiking, fishing and recreation. (AB 408, 2015)
Jones would also take our public lands and allow them to be sold off to private, out-of-state interests, denying access to today’s Nevadans and future generations. (SJR 1, 2015)
Clean Energy
In Nevada, the sun shines more than 300 days a year. We should turn that sunshine into jobs!
The renewable energy industry, including solar, is key to Nevada’s future – creating good jobs, boosting the economy and protecting our air and water.
But Assemblyman Brent Jones voted against studying energy efficient technologies and green banks that could bring new investment – and good-paying jobs – to Nevada. Jones’s record opposing renewable energy expansion makes no sense for Nevada’s future. (SB 360, 2015)
Justin Watkins will champion a clean energy future for Nevada families. That’s who we need in Carson City fighting for us!
