LAS VEGAS — After a summer of systemic poor behavior by NV Energy was revealed, the Nevada Conservation League and our partners will host a rally and press conference ahead of the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada’s (PUCN) General Consumer Session on Monday, Aug. 25, starting at 5:15 p.m..
The rally and press conference will be held outside of the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada office building at 9075 W. Diablo Drive.
After, rally attendees and nonprofits, including Chispa Nevada, PLAN, Moms Clean Air Force, Faith In Action Nevada, Veterans Power America, Solar United Neighbors, and Utility Watch Nevada, will give public comment in Suite 250, Hearing Room A.
For members of the press who need to set up cameras and mics, please arrive at 5 p.m.
The rally and the press conference will highlight the systemic poor behaviors of NV Energy, including:
Overcharging more than 80,000 customers by at least $17 million over decades, then avoiding full repayment by applying the wrong refund rule.
Trying to pass along luxury expenses like limousine rides, liquor, and luxury hotel stays from Berkshire Hathaway, its parent company, which is worth billions.
Undermining rooftop and community solar, energy efficiency, and transportation electrification, because it profits more from overbuilding expensive power plants than from helping customers reduce their usage.
The press conference will also highlight the voices of everyday Nevadans who were impacted by these actions and took heroic steps to speak out.
For members of the press attending or covering the event, RSVP with Camalot Todd, the communications director of NCL, at Camalot@
