LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Today, the Nevada Conservation League announced its endorsement of Steve Sisolak for Governor in the 2022 election.
“With extreme weather and climate pollution threatening communities and degrading our natural resources, it’s critical we continue to have leaders at the forefront of the climate fight — not anti-environment extremists that are looking to reverse all the progress we have made. That’s why we are proud to endorse Governor Steve Sisolak for re-election,” said Nevada Conservation League Policy and Advocacy Director Christi Cabrera. “His leadership initiated the first Nevada Climate Strategy, expanded protections for our sagebrush ecosystem and migratory habitat, accelerated our clean energy economy with the signing of Senate Bill 448, and made history appointing the state’s first Senior Climate Advisor, all while leading the state in a response to the COVID-19 pandemic. These actions not only demonstrate his understanding of the serious threat of climate change, but his commitment to taking bold action at the scale this moment requires.”
“Fighting climate change and growing our clean energy economy have been priorities since day one of my administration,” said Governor Steve Sisolak. “From joining the U.S. Climate Alliance, to raising Nevada’s renewable energy standards, to investing millions in wildfire prevention efforts, we’ve made progress – but there’s more work left to do. I’m glad to have the Nevada Conservation League’s support so we can build on our progress in a second term.”
Governor Sisolak received excellent grades in the Nevada Conservation League’s 2021 legislative scorecard, which evaluates how the state’s leaders vote to protect our climate, air, water, land, and communities. The scorecard examined the Governor’s performance in leadership, administration, appointments, and legislative session.
